O&A: April 1st, 1998

Opie and Anthony were fired from WAAF on April 8th, 1998 for their show on April 1st, during which they pretended the mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, had died in a car wreck. They knew the mayor had been in Florida, but they didn't realize he was actually on his flight back to Boston while they played their joke. This meant that officials were unable to reach the mayor, so they panicked and believed the mayor was dead for a few hours. Of course, it's their fault for being stupid enough to believe this news from jocks at a local rock station on April Fools Day, knowing the reputation O&A had.
